Biden's Presidency to Higher Education

Joe Biden’s election as president might pave a dramatic change towards higher education in the US. This can be seen from the vice president, Kamila Harris that became the nation’s first African American and Asian American vice president as well as the graduate from Howard University (a historically black university) and the first lady, Jill Biden who until recently taught at a community college.

Estimatedly, 450,000 college students who were brought to the US illegally as children no longer live under threat and are more likely to breathe in relief. Also, the community college officials would be more ecstatic due to Biden’s promise to make the community college free as well as providing additional funding to help more students graduate & incentives for wraparound service.

But, angst might likely be experienced by the for-profit colleges who are expected to face much tougher scrutiny & the return of Obama’s administration regulations that are wiped away by the former U.S Education Security, Betsy DeVos.

Higher education was not only on the backseat but was buried under somewhere during a campaign that focused on adequacy of Trump’s response to the pandemic & polar-opposite demeanors of the candidates. Hopefully this presidency (Biden’s), could bring back the light upon higher education in the US.
