Coping with Depression in Quarantine

Updated: Jul 26, 2020

Quarantine and being in isolation is extremely hard, especially to those dealing with depression or anxiety. It’s easy to feel alone with your thoughts when you’re restricted to your home. However, there are some ways that may help you cope with depression during quarantine. Here are three simple ones.

Plan

Having a written plan of all the necessities needed helps to maintain predictability and gets you ready for every week. It prevents you from stressing out last-minute.

Limit Media

Staying on top of news is extremely important. However, be sure to have a limit. When dealing with anxiety, news stories can increase a feeling of hopelessness, especially during this time. Just 15 minutes of news is enough to catch up.

Mix It Up

Staying at home may leave you feeling bored and alone with your thoughts. To suppress this feeling and avoid being restless, be sure to mix up your daily activities. You could try learning new things! Look up recipes on the internet or even try famous TikTok recipes. Learn a new language. Learn those TikTok dances you’ve been wanting to try.

But don’t be overwhelmed with the pressure to always be productive! Take time to care for yourself. Light a candle, read a nice book, brew some tea, use a calming face mask, you name it!
