Is Napping Good For You?

Napping is the act of sleeping briefly, usually done during daytime. Everyone loves naps, but there has been a myth circling around that naps are not good for us, mainly because they promote insomnia later on at night. Experts say that naps are good for maintaining the health and restoration of our hearts because during sleep, our heart rates and pressures tend to be lower.

Have you ever felt groggy or even more fatigued after a nap than before it? Well, healthcare professionals have suggested that we take only 20-30 minute naps or 90 minute naps to prevent this from happening. Grogginess and fatigue upon waking up from a nap generally occur because the period between the suggested nap times are usually when we are at our deeper sleep.

To sum it all up, it is good to take naps, but it is more important to get sufficient sleep at night, given its role in the restoration of our fatigued bodies, and forego naps altogether.
