What Did Apple Announce Yesterday?

Apple’s recent November 10 event focused primarily on Apple’s new Macbook lineup. The main focus was Apple’s new silicon processors, the Apple M1 chip. The new M1 is Apple’s first chip designed just for the Mac. It combines the processor with 16 billion transistors, I/0, security, and memory into a single chip to improve performance and power efficiency.

The M1 houses a 8-core CPU giving it 2x faster CPU performance than a PC chip and 3x higher performance per watt. The M1 also houses an 8-core GPU giving it 2x faster GPU performance. The M1 also features Apple’s latest Neural Engine. The 16-core Neural Engine found on the M1 gives 15x faster machine learning performance.

The new M1 could be found in the new Macbook Air, Macbook Pro 13-in, and Mac mini. The MacBook Air features a fanless design and up to 18 hours of playback for just $999.

Images: 10 & 14. The new MacBook Pro 13-inch has the longest battery life on a mac with up to 20 hours of playback starting at $1299. The new Mac mini, Apple’s cheapest Mac starts at just $699, $100 cheaper than last year’s model. Future generations of the M-chips would be integrated with Apple’s other Mac lineups and show a “promising” future for the Macbook and Macs.
