The COVID-19 pandemic has proven to impact everyone’s lives. Whether it be through the influence it has on society or personally. Idul Fitri, the religious holiday also known as “Festival of Breaking the Fast”, was one of the annual holidays severely affected by the pandemic. Those who are far away from home and family claimed that this has been the loneliest Idul Fitri yet. Before COVID-19, they could celebrate the holiday with fellow Muslim friends. However, in the midst of lockdown rules and social distancing precautions, this year was inevitably different. Indonesian student, Rahmandhika Firdauzha, who is studying in Taiwan, mentioned that prayer rooms on campus are all closed. However, international students and workers are still looking on the positive side of things. “Maybe it’s just the time for us to be more grateful, by maintaining our health and obeying health protocols, so that we can feel such comforts again soon.”
