“Mental health has never been more important than now.” This week (18-24 May 2020) is also known as Mental Health Awareness Week as arranged by the Mental Health Foundation. Individuals around the world are contributing to this event, including the people of Spotify. Spotify has released a set of content to house mental health related playlists and podcasts in partnership with CALM, the Campaign Against Living Miserably. In preparation for the release, Spotify has conducted research between music and well being. 88% of 2,000 respondents claim that music helps improve their mood. Tom Connaughton, the managing director of Spotify UK, said “Through our partnership with CALM, we hope to help create further awareness about Mental Health Awareness Week and the incredible work CALM continues to do. We hope to play our role in encouraging more people to talk freely and openly about mental health, which has never been more important than it is right now."
