On Friday, April 10, a loud rumble was heard in Indonesia’ capital city. Though not confirmed, many netizens believed that it was a result of the eruption of the Anak Krakatau volcano in Lampung. Thick ash started to drop on the island as the eruption occurred. However, it was not as bad as previous disasters. Three more volcanoes in Indonesia erupted on that same Friday: Mount Kerinci in Jambi, West Sumatra, Mount Semeru in Lumajang, East Java, and Mount Merapi in Yogyakarta. The Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center declared a caution alert for these four mountains on the following Saturday.
